Some of the best conditions for skiing in living memory were had this year in Canada, which is a stark contrast to most of the European resorts who struggled to see much snow.

FERNIE - Fernie Alpine Resort closed out the ski season last weekend.

"We were blessed with some of the best snow we've had in years...it was a great year," said Andy Cohen, Resorts of the Canadian Rockies (RCR) British Columbia division general manager .
"I would say we had some of the best conditions of people's lives," said Cohen.

A variety of events marked the season; terrain park rail jam, avalanche awareness days, cardboard derby, dummy downhill, Canadian powder eights, junior freeski, K1 alpine provincials, the big air competition and Hot Dog day.
Aside from the events and the dumps of snow, the ski hill featured the new Lost Boys café this year.
"It's been great.

It was definitely a challenge at first but we've got a great team (who got things together)," said Lost Boys café staff member Karey Pion.
