According to a recent article in the Daily Telegraph, the total number of British visits abroad overtook the number of British residents for the first time in 2004 and the trend has continued.

Spain, France and Ireland remain the favourite destinations, but Bulgaria is the fastest growing.

Almost one in ten Britons now lives abroad and these numbers are rising fast.

500 British citizens leave the UK permanently each day. The country with the most British immigrants is Australia with more than a million, followed by Spain, the US, Canada and Ireland.
